Firebase Studio App Production Checklist

Firestore security rules in production mode — not test mode — are the single most important thing to verify before any Firebase app goes live

Authentication protects all private routes and API endpoints. Input validation on every form and data handler. No API keys or secrets in client-side code. Security headers configured (CSP, HSTS, X-Frame-Options). CORS restricted to your domain. Rate limiting on login and signup endpoints. HTTPS enforced everywhere.

Images optimized and lazy-loaded. Code splitting implemented. Lighthouse performance score above 80. Database queries have indexes on filtered columns. Pagination on all data lists. Static assets served with cache headers. No unnecessary client-side JavaScript.

Error tracking configured (Sentry or similar). Custom error pages for 404 and 500 errors. Error boundaries catch rendering failures gracefully. Loading states on all async operations. Graceful handling of network failures. Health check endpoint for monitoring. Database backups configured.

Firestore security rules NOT in test mode (allow read, write: if true). Security rules scope reads and writes to authenticated user. Firebase App Check configured for production. Email verification required before data access. All Firestore listeners cleaned up on component unmount. Cloud Functions use Admin SDK for elevated operations. Environment config uses production Firebase project. Firebase Hosting configured with production domain. Client-side bundle doesn't contain secrets beyond Firebase config. Firestore queries filtered, not full collection reads. Pagination implemented for large Firestore collections. Cloud Functions error handling returns safe error messages. Auth edge cases handled (expired tokens, revoked sessions). Security rules tested with Firebase Rules Unit Testing. Monitoring configured via Firebase Performance and Crashlytics
