How to Deploy Your Zed AI-Built App

Zed AI typically generates projects using Rust, TypeScript, Python, and Go are primary targets given Zed's own stack and user base. Zed AI assists within whatever project is open and adapts to the language and framework in use. Understanding the stack is important because it determines your deployment options and the specific configuration you'll need.

Zed AI is an editor assistant, not a project generator. Deployment targets depend on the project being worked on, not on Zed AI itself

Zed AI doesn't generate deployment configuration. If Zed AI helped write new code that requires infrastructure changes (new services, new environment variables, database schema), add those to your existing deployment process manually. Review AI-generated code in the same CI pipeline as hand-written code

One of the most common deployment failures is missing or misconfigured environment variables. Zed AI apps often hardcode values during development that need to be externalized for production. Audit every file for hardcoded URLs, API keys, and configuration values. Create a .env.example file listing every required variable. Set these in your hosting platform's dashboard before deploying.

After deploying, verify: HTTPS is enforced on all routes, custom domain is configured and resolving, environment variables are correctly loaded, all features work in production (not just locally), error tracking is capturing exceptions, and performance is acceptable under real conditions.
